Texturing and lighting in Redshift at School of Motion.

I started working in 3D when every frame you rendered took…well, forever. It was really time-consuming and frustrating when trying to achieve your desired look and feel, and every adjustment to your scene meant a painfully long wait. Today's 3rd party renderers are insanely fast and make working and iterating on your ideas in 3D just so much easier and enjoyable.

The above animation was an exercise in lighting and material design using Redshit. The scene was provided for us with no lighting or materials. I found creating materials in Redshift intuitive and fun once I got my head around the node system. Overall I was pretty pleased with my color and lighting design. Just for fun, I added some camera movements and had them rise out of the floor to an old school Kraftwerk hit.
